Before I start blubbering, I want to emphasize one important thing that I have learnt from my many failures trying to lose weight. There is simply NO such thing as losing 10 lbs of weight in a week while you are on a HEALTHY diet. Now, now, don't let it disappoint you. I'm only saying it so that you won't give up when you see oh-not-so-dramatic results in your first week following my tips below. But, what I can guarantee is that you will definitely lose weight gradually but consistently while maintaining your fitness. I've tried and succeeded. I have gone from 170 lbs to 112 lbs in nine months! These following tips have helped me achieve my dream body and here's hoping that they will help you too!
Tip No.1: Check out the Calories.
You should look at the calories per serving for the food you are picking up to eat or you are putting into your grocery shopping cart. Calorie intake per day should be tabbed daily. You probably have heard many times that excess fat forms when there are more calorie intake than that burned. It is generally a good idea to have 1500 to 2000 calories per day. In certain diet plans, people strip down the calorie intake to under 900 per day but it didn't work well for me and I never lasted over a week. I felt tired and depressed as a result of that over reduced diet. Too few calorie intake never goes well with your health. However, keeping track of the calories helps you shape up your diet and lose weight fast. My idea is to acknowledge the calorie intake but don't overdo it.
Tip No.2: A bowl of vegetables salad and a glass of water before each meal.
Put many raw vegetables that come to your mind except sugary and starchy ones like potato into a bowl and add a low calorie dressing on them. That will be your appetizer. There are no crackers or usual delicious dressings. It should be kept that simple. Start each meal with a lot of water so that you feel satisfied and feel stuffed after meal.`
Tip No.3: Eat slowly and eat less.
I will explain it this way. Eating so fast prevents your stomach from signaling to the brain that it's actually full. Eating slowly gives your stomach time to process and your brain can tell you to stop eating. And, reduce your normal amount of meal slowly to an extent that you can handle. But, after that big bowl of salads and water, you can only eat so much as half the meal you usually have. This will eventually lead to weight loss.
Tip No.4: Have frequent small meals.
It is just bad for your body mechanism and your stomach to skip breakfast or dinner. Instead, eat less and eat frequently and include more vegetables salads and water in your diet plan. Then you will do okay to lose weight.
Tip Number 5: Have apples or oranges for your dessert!
It is pretty obvious by now that you just can't have cheese cake or cookies for your after-dinner dessert. But, also don't resort to high calorie fruits like bananas. Instead have fruits that can give you a lot of vitamin C and other nutrients like apples or oranges (and their friends, like clementine)! Vitamin C can help you burn fat faster while you're doing normal activities and it's a healthy way to lose weight.
6th Tip: A big No for Soda!
Are you in the habit of having sodas while you watch TV or work? Then, now it's the perfect time to drop that habit as sodas can do so much harm to your dental and physical health. What's worse is that they make you gain weight. So, you should replace sodas with water starting now. For your information, 5 liters of water a day can help you lose weight so fast in such a healthy way.
Tip Number 7: Snacks for a quick bite? NO!
Sitting on the couch, watching your favorite TV shows and having potato chips make a very comfy evening. Also, mars bars, snickers, chocolate, cookies and snacks alike don't help you to lose weight! I would say that the best thing to do during TV time is to stand up and stretch occasionally. Some light exercise is also very good for a faster weight loss.
8th Tip: Walk more and more and more.
Don't just DRIVE to your work, to the school, to the park, to the supermarket, and to your backyard! Whenever you have to go to somewhere which is within your walking distance, just walk. Give your car a rest. Twenty minutes of walking everyday can give a tremendous boost to losing your weight fast. Walking burns calories fast and help you lose excess fat even! So, even if you can't go to gym and train seriously, just take advantage of your daily routine and walk more.
Tip Number 9: No Fast Food please!
It is really tempting to just dine out to save the troubles of preparing a healthy meal at home. But, what you should know is that fast food welcomes those extra pounds really fast. When you really have to eat outside, make sure you pick up right things from the menu that contain low calorie content. Also, swap your usual coke for lemon spiced water. It's going to save you many unnecessary calories and help you lose weight.
10th Tip: Consistency!
This is placed last but this is probably what will help you succeed in your weight loss plan. You might think sometimes that starved few days can do so much in speeding up the weight loss process. It is such a wrong idea! All the couple of times I tried on silly impulses to starve myself ended up pretty useless. I went starving, I found out I was falling apart so I ate like crazy only to have those die-hard pounds again. I just couldn't get through that vicious cycle. So, don't think the unthinkable: starving. Just be consistent in your plan. A consistent approach can bring you a permanent weight loss.
