1. Dont face a wall. If possible, position your desk or workspace facing away from a wall. Dead energy will gather between your desk and the wall, creating a dead end job for you and a negative workspace. Facing outward represents a clear and open flow of energy and allows you to think more openly and positively. If this configuration is just not possible, place a mirror in front of your desk to view outward or a picture that has depth for you to think on.
2. Sit comfortably. Dont work all day on a lousy office chair. Find a seat that will be comfortable and will provide you with the support you need to sit all day. An ergonomic desk chair is great as is a plush executive chair. Whatever your style, choose a chair that is at a height that allows you to rest your hands comfortably and without strain. A good office chair can mean the difference between a positive, productive day and a neck-aching inefficient day.
3. Get organized. Although this may seem obvious for any office worker, in feng shui, the more you let clutter pile up on your desk or on the floor around you, the harder it is for the energies to flow around you. Utilize file cabinets and paper sorters and stay on top of the organizational tasks that present themselves on a daily basis. When your workspace is cluttered and messy, your life seems to be cluttered and messy. Staying organized is the best way to increase productivity and positive energy.
4. Decorate for success. Though there may not be a lot of space or leeway for personal decorating at the office, keeping your personal space decorated in feng shui style is important to your personal happiness and your energy. Keep positive reminders in mind as you decorate. If you love your family and want them to be well, keep a small picture of them to remind you. If you are hoping for a promotion or raise, keep a positive quote or statement nearby to keep your mind in a positive place.
5. Go organic. One of the easiest ways to create a positive feng shui space in the office is by bringing in organic elements. Keep a plant on your desk. Open the blinds for some natural light. Crack a window for a breeze. You could even switch to a bamboo trashcan. Whatever your means, try to bring elements of outside in and create a balanced and positive energy around your space.
Without having to completely redesign your office space, there are many little things you can do to get the feng shui energies flowing. Remember to choose colors that are soothing, decorations that make you feel good and you will quickly begin to notice the difference. Change your office and change your efficiency, productivity and just your desire to be at work everyday.
