Ginger & Carrot Juice Recipe
2 Large carrots (organic are preferable but a non organic carrot is better than no carrot!)
2 Apples (Golden Delicious are juiciest)
1/4" of root ginger
1" slice of lemon (peel on and unwaxed if possible)
Ice (optional)
No need to peel anything, just give them a scrub and feed everything into your juicer, pour the juice over the ice and drink.
Apart from the added health benefits from the ginger it also gives the carrot juice a nice zing to it, and warms the juice which is really nice on a cold day!
Cherry & Carrot Juice Recipe
1 Large carrot (or 2 smaller ones), scrubbed
1 1/2lbs of cherries (washed & pitted)
You don't need to worry too much about the stalks but you do need to remove the stones because these could (and probably will) break your juicer.
Juice and enjoy!
This is definitely a juice for when cherries are in season and therefore available in abundance because they can be rather pricey but, having said that, the health benefits from cherries (and cherry juice in particular) are enormous they really are one of the super fruits!
What are the Benefits of Carrot Juice?
Carrots are such a "normal" vegetable, they are quite cheap to buy, easy to grow, available in supermarkets all year around and in all honesty they are really taken for granted. Most of us know that we should be eating more greens and that cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli can help to fight against cancer but what about drinking carrot juice?
Carrot juice is rich in Beta-carotene which is an antioxidant preventing cell degeneration and therefore fighting the signs of ageing. Beta-carotene is converted by the body into Vitamin A which is important for improving your sight and we all associate eating carrots with being able to see in the dark but it also reduces the risk of osteoporosis and helps to maintain healthy body tissues making it a great anti ageing remedy helping to fight the aches and pains that we associate with getting older. Because of the help that carrot juice gives to growing bones and to the maintenance of healthy tissues it is also highly recommended for expectant and nursing mothers.
Personally, I have been in remission from Crohn's disease for over 12 years and put this down to a change in my diet. I include a lot of fresh juices and drink carrot juice regularly as it is very good for your digestive system and something I would highly recommend to people who suffer from any digestive or bowel condition. This is a particular favourite carrot juice recipe of mine.
